ADHD Assessment and Treatment in Cincinnati

Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) involves long-standing problems with inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity that wreak havoc at home, work, and in personal relationships.

There are many myths and misconceptions about ADHD, such that it doesn’t exist or is overdiagnosed. The truth is that ADHD is a neurobiological disorder that affects multiple regions of the brain, is often lifelong, and has been documented in medical textbooks since the 1700s. It’s nothing new. Left untreated ADHD can cause all sorts of problems, including depression, anxiety, addiction, health problems, and premature mortality.

Thankfully there is plenty that can be done to manage the symptoms. The first step is getting properly assessed. ADHD assessment is a bit more involved than the level of testing needed for other mental health issues. Accordingly, it is important that this be performed by someone well trained in such evaluations.

I perform ADHD assessments in-person and by telehealth with clients in Cincinnati, Ohio, and PsyPact participating states.

Additionally, I work with clients to link them with appropriate treatment resources for better managing ADHD symptoms. Although the first-line treatment for ADHD is medication, other psychotherapeutic approaches have been found effective, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for ADHD, mindfulness-based treatments, and couples therapy for ADHD. I provide all of these services at my practice in Downtown Cincinnati.

To help prospective clients determine if a ADHD assessment makes sense for them, I offer free ADHD phone screens and free, 30-minute phone consultations.

It is normal to have many questions about ADHD, either as it affects your or your loved one. To help answer these questions, I have prepared an ADHD Q&A page and also provide links to many helpful ADHD resources in the Cincinnati area and elsewhere.
